Kids are constantly changing, much to the dismay of the adults around them who might finally figure out how to manage one phase just as the next developmental phase emerges. Throughout childhood, caregivers experience the highs and lows alongside their little people, but things are inevitably so different from one generation (or year!) to the next.
Therapy for kids is unique and requires a therapist who is able to adjust to each child’s and family’s experiences and needs. At Grounding Space, we strive to create a space where kids feel welcome, understood, and cared for while they develop skills, insight, and relationships to support their well being.
We use games, art, special interests, and play in our sessions to support kids ages 4 and up in their work. Some typical areas we work with children on include:
Emotion identification
Self regulation
Social skills
Impulse control
Sibiling dynamics
Traumatic experiences
We work diligently to create a collaborative relationship with caregivers to support the work that we do in session with any child we work with. While this may feel different from other approaches, we believe that having the adults in the child’s life actively involved in treatment is paramount in achieving the goals each child or family may have.
Being a kid is hard sometimes. Raising a kid is hard sometimes. We are here to support your child and you in being the best versions of yourselves.
