Life Transitions
“The path to our destination is not always a straight one. We go down the wrong road, we get lost, we turn back. Maybe it doesn't matter which road we embark on. Maybe what matters is that we embark.” -Barbara Hall
Life is full of twists and turn, expected and unexpected changes. Sometimes we are able to go with the flow and adjust easily and other times we feel stuck, confused, or hurt. Therapy during life transitions aims to help cope with these changes, adjust to a new routine, find happiness in the changes, and grieve the loss of what was.
Some of the life transitions we have experience with include:
Relationships beginning or ending, cohabitation, marriage, and widowhood
School or job changes
Moving
Parenting stage transitions
Physical illness
There is no one method for therapy during life transitions, but it has been shown time and again that having someone walk alongside you when starting a new journey can lessen the fear, sadness, anger, and unease about making a change.
